Updated List of Items for Storm Victims
Please put your items in the library when you bring them. This will be our staging area.
URGENT NOTICE
There is an urgent need for supplies to help tornado victims in Mississippi and Alabama. Smithville, Mississippi was especially hard hit. So far, at least 80 people were killed in a little town of 870 people. Even now, volunteers are still searching the countryside for victims.
Area churches have been asked to help. Great Oaks has been asked to supply the following:
- (20) 20 to 22 Gallon or 64 Qt Rubbermaid Plastic Containers with locking lids
The following is needed to put in each plastic container:
- 4 Towels (Inexpensive ones)
- 4 Wash clothes (Inexpensive ones)
- Baby Wipes
- Hand sanitizer
- Deodorant/antiperspirant for either man/woman (i.e. Degree, Sure, Arrid)
- LED Flashlights with extra batteries
- Paring Knife
- Good quality manual Can Opener
- 16 oz of dish washing detergent (Dawn)
- Container of Clorox or Lysol wipes
- 1 small Legal pad (Can buy in a bundle and separate)
- 1 or 2 Ink Pens
- Box of shelf milk – (Can be found near the dry and/or evaporated milk section – does not require refrigeration.) Example: Parmalat brand at Wal-Mart was $1.62
- Bath in a Bag – At the Bartlett Wal-Mart on Hwy 64, it can be found near the back wall next to Pharmacy, in the section with Depends and Assurance underwear. There were two types: Comfort Bath for $3.36 and Assurance Personal Wash Clothes for $2.62
We will be collecting through Sunday night, May 8, but would like to have it as soon as possible.
Most of the items will be going to the Smithville Church of Christ which is designated as one of the main distribution centers in the area. Any overflow items will be taken to the Northport Church of Christ in Tuscaloosa, AL.
