“Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice”,Philippians 4:4. Rejoice: to be joyful, to be happy. “He who trusts in the Lord, happy is he”, Proverbs 20:16. Happy, like: “sing and be happy”; breathe happy (Febreeze); “sleep happy” (Mattress-firm)? No. Rejoice and be happy in the Lord! “Happy are the people whose God is the Lord”, Psalms 144:15. What does that look like in your life? “I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am in…”, Philippians 4:11b. Are you happy, trusting, joyful, or content? It has been said, “Contentment is an attitude that says, I will be satisfied with what God has given me.” In Proverbs, “A harvest of peace is produced from a seed of contentment.” “Life is Good!” Can you say that? Do you wear a t-shirt or have a window sticker with that saying on it? Do you think it’s cute, cool, or do you really mean it? Do you look to the Lord, trusting in him, when you are troubled or challenged in your life? Do you find guidance and solace in the scriptures? “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God (contentment?) which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus”, Philippians 4:6-7 or “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose (trust?), Romans 8:28. When you sing that beautiful song in worship, “It is well with my soul”, do you truly mean it? Can you confidently, and whole-heartedly, say that you “Rejoice in the Lord always…”!
