Day 28 – GOD OF COMPASSION
Today’s thought is shared by Peggy Brown…
“ but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18)
When I became a Christian, I was old enough and had been taught enough that I knew what I was doing. I knew that I was baptized for the remission of my sins and that I was to live for Christ.
I went to a small country church and we did not have follow up studies so after I was baptized I just kind of felt like there was a period of time before I grew to know Christ very much. I was reading my Bible but that was about all I was doing to learn and grow.
After I got a little older, I became more aware of what living a Christian life was supposed to look and feel like. Then I asked God for forgiveness for what I had not been doing and I promised to do better each day. I better understood about the meaning of the Lord’s Supper and what living as a Christian was supposed to be like. I learned the peace and comfort that only God can give.
I am still growing in Christ and I hope to continue to grow for as long as I live. Like the apostle Paul wrote, I hope to be more like Jesus. I know I can never be at the same level as Jesus, but I can keep trying to be more like Him every day that I live.
Dear God, please help to keep growing in your Son and I ask you to forgive my sins and to help me keep trying to live for you. Thank you for what your Son did for me so I can have that wonderful home. In Jesus’ name, Amen
