Today’s thought is shared by William and Ansley Tingle…
“…when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” (Psalm 61:2)
They say life is a journey. A marathon, not sprint. It’s also true in our transformation journey. So many times we find ourselves overwhelmed and off the right track, even without realizing it. We aren’t the same as when we came to Great Oaks 5 1/2 years ago. We were down and discouraged and looking for a loving christian family to help us heal spiritually. We had no clue how this church family would love and bless us in our transformation journey through the five hardest years in our marriage so far, especially when we lost our first baby. So many sermons, Bible class lessons, and discussions with love, grace, and truth the last 5 years have been small seeds planted in our hearts healing us spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. Romans 12:2 and the word “Transformation” has been on our hearts a lot since last summer and both of us realizing we needed to make priorities better in the present and heal from our past in order to live for God in the present. Sometimes God allows us to hit rock bottom because He knows He will be at the bottom waiting for us as our ROCK. “When my heart feels overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.” Psalm 61:2 If you’re silently struggling, just face your sin or struggle head on, be open to a brother or sister or elder, and you’ll feel so much better! The church was meant to help carry each other through this life! If we surrender and allow God to soften our hearts, He will lead us to freedom! We choose to renew our minds and hearts DAILY! Our goal isn’t a perfect journey. A transformation journey is an imperfect life with many failures along the way. If we let Him transform us intentionally and willingly everyday, those around us will not see weakness, but a quiet and courageous strength and the power of God’s Spirit to change us. We encourage each of you to do this with us!
Father, Thank you for the transforming journey you have put us on. As it has been difficult, it has been vital to our spiritual health. How great is your knowing? Your knowing has guided us to the right path for our lives and your word directs us to the direction to travel. We pray that our hearts will always surrender to You, be softened and open to you, and our feelings and beliefs will radiate the goodness of you. May your peace reign in our lives and the lives of those seeking you! Thank you for all the ways you have blessed us. In Jesus name, Amen
