Day 37 – Thursday, November 8, 2018

Today’s thought is shared by Tommie Hannah…

“So shalt thou find favour and good understanding the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart: and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:4-6)

Trust….a huge word in our language. Trust is hard to come by, it does not come naturally or easily. Young children trust their parents, quickly and easily, but it goes away as they grow older. Do we always trust those in authority? Not in the beginning, it has to be learned. Do we trust God completely and fully? I do not always, however I am learning daily that in order for me to have the ultimate home in heaven, trusting and believing in him is necessary for me to get that eternal home. If I trust and obey Him, my worries should diminish. That does not mean that I “won’t” worry, it just means that I will “TRUST” that He will be there for me. I’m sharing a story in short form that happened between Jamie and me. We always pick up a drink on our way to Bible study on Sundays and Wednesdays. This past Sunday morning my drink had a tricky top. I fought with it. I finally gave up and asked Jamie to please help me (he is driving). He finally said “Tommie take the wheel”. I had a funny moment and started singing the song as Carrie Underwood would with “Jesus take the wheel”. I had to trust him and his driving at that moment. I’ve thought about this ever since. It seems that I tend to turn to God only in times of worry and dread, rather than knowing that He is always there and trusting that He will be there.

Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do;
Where He sends, we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.

In Him, Tommie Hannah
