Day 38 – Friday, November 8, 2019

Today’s thought is shared by Aarek Farmer…

Courageous Kindness

After Paul spent a number of years persecuting Christians, and handing them over to be killed, it is no surprise that after God intervened to put him to work in His kingdom that people were skeptical. At a time when no one believes you, and you feel alone, there’s nothing like the kindness of a courageous friend to step up for you and defend you against everyone else.

Acts 9:26-27

And when he had come to Jerusalem, he [Paul] attempted to join the disciples. And they were all afraid of him, for they did not believe that he was a disciple. But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles and declared to them how on the road he had seen the Lord, who spoke to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus.

Barnabas showed kindness to Paul at a time when he needed it most and when most other probably wouldn’t have the courage to do so. He convinced people that Paul was truly a disciple of Christ, a transformed man.

Look out for those around you who are trying to accomplish a difficult task and assist them. Paul went on to do great things with Barnabas at his side. What a blessing!

Dear God, You were kind to us when we didn’t deserve it. Help us to be kind to those that you place in paths, and give us to the courage and willingness to sacrifice in order to do so. In His name, Amen.
