Would you pay for someone to come into your home to commit any of these acts? Now stop and think about that question. Would you pay someone to come to your home to practice fornication, adultery, homosexuality, or murder. Of course, we all are going to say no. We may even think that would be sick, and you are right it would be. So, why do we gather our families and entertain them with these acts through electronic devices? We set the example for our children and spouses to find entertainment in murder, adultery, fornicators, and bad language. You may say, “But that is just the way the entertainment industry is. That’s all that’s out there.” A very popular show called Friends, which I have watched, is a good example. It promotes fornication through all the characters on the show. One even becomes pregnant by one of the other characters. This is celebrated on the show and if we are not careful, we are celebrating for them in our own minds. Two other characters on the show live together before marriage. This too is celebrated. We go to movies and watch movies with all kinds of language in them. Why do we continue to pay for these things and set the example to our families and friends that this behavior is ok for a Christian to be part of in any way? 1 Thessalonians 5:22 reject every kind of evil. Where are our minds and hearts when we are filling them with this stuff? If we are filling them with unholy things our faith will not increase. Everything takes up room in your mind and heart affecting our faith. If we are putting the unholy things into them then we have less room for the holy things to build our faith stronger. Can the holy and unholy exist in one heart? We can make room in our hearts by removing the unholy things thus increasing faith. We can police the shows, movies, music, games, podcasts, etc.… My household, at the encouragement of my spouse, has been doing this for roughly a year. It is amazing the difference it has made in my heart and my thoughts toward others in daily life and faith. It has been a challenge and the process that is not perfect, but faith does increase with the removal of this type of entertainment. We have had to stop watching some shows mid-season due to these acts. You may shrug this off and think it is no big deal to you. If that is your thought process, there is no judgment toward you. I thought the same thing when my wife brought this idea to me. What I do want to do is encourage you to try it. The positive effects on your life, the strengthening of faith, outweigh the loss of entertainment.
Dear Heavenly Father please be with us as we are part of your body but living in this world. We are called to be different, and it is not always easy, Lord. Too many times we let the world influence us in areas that we should not. Lord, give us the strength to make the choices that will allow the world to see your light through us. Guide us Lord. Amen.

¿Pagarías para que alguien entrara a tu casa y cometiera alguno de estos actos? Ahora detente y piensa en esa pregunta. ¿Pagaría usted a alguien para que viniera a su casa a practicar la fornicación, el adulterio, la homosexualidad o el asesinato? Por supuesto, todos vamos a decir que no. Incluso podemos pensar que eso sería enfermizo, y tienes razón, lo sería. Entonces, ¿por qué reunimos a nuestras familias y las entretenemos con estos actos a través de dispositivos electrónicos? Damos el ejemplo a nuestros hijos y cónyuges para que encuentren entretenimiento en el asesinato, el adulterio, los fornicarios y las malas palabras. Quizás digas: “Pero así es la industria del entretenimiento. Eso es todo lo que hay ahí fuera”. Un programa muy popular llamado Friends, que he visto, es un buen ejemplo. Promueve la fornicación a través de todos los personajes del programa. Incluso una queda embarazada de uno de los otros personajes. Esto se celebra en el programa y si no tenemos cuidado, lo celebramos en nuestras propias mentes. Otros dos personajes del programa viven juntos antes del matrimonio. Esto también se celebra. Vamos al cine y vemos películas que contienen todo tipo de lenguaje. ¿Por qué seguimos pagando por estas cosas y damos el ejemplo a nuestras familias y amigos de que este comportamiento está bien para un cristiano de alguna manera? 1 Tesalonicenses 5:22 rechaza toda clase de mal. ¿Dónde están nuestras mentes y corazones cuando los llenamos con estas cosas? Si los llenamos de cosas impías, nuestra fe no aumentará. Todo ocupa espacio en tu mente y corazón afectando nuestra fe. Si ponemos cosas impías en ellos, entonces tenemos menos espacio para que las cosas santas fortalezcan nuestra fe. ¿Pueden lo santo y lo impío existir en un solo corazón? Podemos hacer espacio en nuestros corazones eliminando las cosas impías y aumentando así la fe. Podemos controlar los programas, películas, música, juegos, podcasts, etc. En mi familia, alentados por mi cónyuge, hemos estado haciendo esto durante aproximadamente un año. Es sorprendente la diferencia que ha hecho en mi corazón y mis pensamientos hacia los demás en la vida diaria y la fe. Ha sido un desafío y el proceso no es perfecto, pero la fe sí aumenta con la eliminación de este tipo de entretenimiento. Hemos tenido que dejar de ver algunos programas a mitad de temporada debido a estos actos. Usted puede ignorar esto y pensar que no es gran cosa para usted. Si ese es tu proceso de pensamiento, no habrá ningún juicio hacia ti. Pensé lo mismo cuando mi esposa me trajo esta idea. Lo que sí quiero hacer es animarte a que lo pruebes. Los efectos positivos en tu vida, el fortalecimiento de la fe, superan la pérdida de entretenimiento.
Querido Padre Celestial, por favor quédate con nosotros ya que somos parte de tu cuerpo pero vivimos en este mundo. Estamos llamados a ser diferentes y no siempre es fácil, Señor. Demasiadas veces dejamos que el mundo nos influya en áreas que no deberíamos. Señor, danos la fuerza para tomar decisiones que permitan al mundo ver tu luz a través de nosotros. Guíanos Señor. Amén.
