Some time back I was working with a Boy Scout troop that wasn’t large, but a history of 50+ years. At my start with it, almost every boy hadn’t experienced any form of worship, and came from broken homes. I saw that I was possibly the closest to church they had ever seen. I was asked to follow the current scoutmaster who worn out himself. There was one scout who was a natural leader of the others, however he had the problem of being self centered, no concern for the others. The other adult leaders wanted him out of the troop (not Scouting) or they would stop working in this troop causing its end. I was asked to do something that had never happened, tell a boy he was no longer welcomed there. His stepbrother left in anger. I was a failure.
Later the stepbrother wanted back in the troop to make Eagle. Almost 18, needing many requirements, it was almost impossible. I told him I’d help all I could, but he had to do the work. He did the work and earned it, becoming a better person from the work.
Years later, being with his stepbrother ,the dismissed stepbrother got in a fight with another person and was killed. The one having gotten Eagle, told me if not for my guidance on his actions, he would have probably been killed as well. He, beings a Radiology Tech, saw my name on tests to be done, and asked to run my tests, to thank me for helping when he really needed it the most.
I went from failure to helping someone needing more than I was possible.

Vi que yo era posiblemente el más cercano a la iglesia que jamás habían visto. Me pidieron que siguiera al jefe de exploradores actual que se desgastó. Había un explorador que era un líder natural de los demás, sin embargo, tenía el problema de ser egocéntrico, sin preocuparse por los demás. Los otros líderes adultos lo querían fuera de la tropa (no del Movimiento Scout) o dejarían de trabajar en esta tropa provocando su fin. Me pidieron que hiciera algo que nunca había sucedido, decirle a un chico que ya no era bienvenido allí. Su hermanastro se fue enojado. yo era un fracaso
Más tarde el hermanastro quiso volver a la tropa para hacer Águila. Casi 18, necesitando muchos requisitos, era casi imposible. Le dije que ayudaría en todo lo que pudiera, pero él tenía que hacer el trabajo. Hizo el trabajo y se lo ganó, convirtiéndose en una mejor persona a partir del trabajo.
Años después, estando con su hermanastro, el hermanastro despedido se peleó con otra persona y lo mataron. El que consiguió a Eagle me dijo que si no fuera por mi guía sobre sus acciones, probablemente también habría sido asesinado. Él, siendo un técnico de radiología, vio mi nombre en las pruebas a realizar y me pidió que hiciera mis pruebas, para agradecerme por ayudar cuando realmente más lo necesitaba.
Pasé del fracaso a ayudar a alguien que necesitaba más de lo que yo era posible.
