Day 22 of 40 Days of Prayer – November 7, 2021

Day 22                  November 7, 2021               Jeremiah Schnell

For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place and you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14)

Empty Shoes

Esther had filled the shoes of Queen Vashti only to face the responsibility of speaking out to rescue her people, and at the possible cost of losing her life. In a display of immense fortitude Esther spoke on Israel’s behalf, saving her people and bringing doom upon their enemies. Esther had the opportunity and means to serve God, and did so faithfully! While we seldom face such extreme circumstances, many find the responsibility of filling the spiritual shoes of generations past to be a daunting challenge that they often leave unanswered. We must realize that while God’s plans will always succeed, we determine our place in those plans. Every Christian that goes to his or her reward leaves behind a vacant pair of shoes in the kingdom. While it may seem uncomfortable or difficult, every Christian has the opportunity and means to serve in the kingdom. The Bible classes taught, Bible studies conducted, prayers worded, songs led, visits made, and souls won by the past generations must continue! Let us remember Jesus’ prayer request in Luke 10:2, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Holy Father, help us to become those who fill the vacant shoes in Christ’s kingdom. Let us use the abilities & resources with which You have blessed us to carry out Your work as we live on earth, that we may be welcomed to Your side in heaven as your faithful servants.
