THE CASE FOR FELLOWSHIP: GETTING TO KNOW YOU
One of the ways to increase our faith is to fellowship with other Christians. Fellowship means a mutual sharing of a common experience, activity, or interest. God expects us to assemble together on the first day of the week (Heb 10:25 ) and worship in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:24). When you connect with Christians, you affirm the bond of being united in Christ ( Rom 12:5). What a joy and privilege to worship with others who believe as we do! Beyond worship assemblies, Great Oaks is blessed with many fellowship opportunities. Whether it’s enjoying potluck dinners, participating in a small study group, teaching a class, visiting the sick, celebrating a success, etc., the goals are the same: love God, build relationships, and serve each other. God’s family should be a place where members are valued, trusted, and encouraged (Rom 15:2). However, sometimes we are reluctant to get to know others because in previous relationships, we have had a bad experience and we wonder if the risks are worth the gain. It is good to remember that the family is made up of imperfect people who can admit their shortcomings (James 5:16). We increase our faith by connecting with others who are striving to bear the fruits of the Spirit (Gal:5:22-23) even if we are not always successful. What are some suggestions to grow our faith by fellowshipping with others? (1) Be “visitor aware”. It’s a well known fact that visitors are likely to return to a church who makes them feel welcome. (2) Commit to attending one event/activity and get to know another person. (3) Share your faith and encourage another member who is struggling. (4) Send a note of gratitude to someone who would least expect it. Fellowship is at its best when it is anchored in Christ and members love one another.
Dear God, Thank you for the blessing of a church family where members genuinely care. Please help us to look for opportunities to fellowship and increase our faith. May we model Christ’s life of sacrifice, forgiveness and service. In Jesus name, Amen

EL CASO DE LA COMPAÑERISMO: CONOCERTE
Una de las maneras de aumentar nuestra fe es tener comunión con otros cristianos. Compañerismo significa compartir mutuo una experiencia, actividad o interés común. Dios espera que nos reunamos el primer día de la semana (Heb 10:25) y adoremos en Espíritu y en Verdad (Juan 4:24). Cuando te conectas con cristianos, afirmas el vínculo de estar unidos en Cristo (Romanos 12:5). ¡Qué alegría y privilegio adorar con otros que creen como nosotros! Más allá de las asambleas de adoración, Great Oaks ha sido bendecida con muchas oportunidades de compañerismo. Ya sea disfrutar de cenas compartidas, participar en un pequeño grupo de estudio, dar una clase, visitar a los enfermos, celebrar un éxito, etc., los objetivos son los mismos: amar a Dios, construir relaciones y servirse unos a otros. La familia de Dios debe ser un lugar donde los miembros sean valorados, confiados y alentados (Romanos 15:2). Sin embargo, a veces somos reacios a conocer a otros porque en relaciones anteriores hemos tenido una mala experiencia y nos preguntamos si los riesgos valen la pena. Es bueno recordar que la familia está formada por personas imperfectas que pueden admitir sus defectos (Santiago 5:16). Aumentamos nuestra fe al conectarnos con otras personas que se esfuerzan por dar los frutos del Espíritu (Gálatas 5:22-23), incluso si no siempre tenemos éxito. ¿Cuáles son algunas sugerencias para hacer crecer nuestra fe al tener compañerismo con otros? (1) Sea “consciente de los visitantes”. Es un hecho bien conocido que es probable que los visitantes regresen a una iglesia que los haga sentir bienvenidos. (2) Comprométete a asistir a un evento/actividad y conocer a otra persona. (3) Comparta su fe y anime a otro miembro que esté luchando. (4) Envía una nota de agradecimiento a alguien que menos lo esperaría. La comunión es mejor cuando está anclada en Cristo y los miembros se aman unos a otros.
Querido Dios, gracias por la bendición de una familia de la iglesia donde los miembros se preocupan genuinamente. Por favor ayúdanos a buscar oportunidades para tener compañerismo y aumentar nuestra fe. Que podamos modelar la vida de sacrificio, perdón y servicio de Cristo. En el nombre de Jesús, Amén.
