“and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.” (Luke 21:2-4)

GOD WILL PROVIDE
In the first few verses of Luke 21, Jesus comments on a widow who gave two mites into the treasury. He states that the rich gave out of their abundance, but the widow gave everything she had. For most of my life, I interpreted this story to refer to how we must give willingly, even if that means more than we want to. While that interpretation may be true, more recently I’ve looked at this story from an entire different angle. The widow did NOT wait until she had three mites to give two. In other words, she didn’t seek out security in her own assets before she decided to give. She gave it all knowing that her security was in God.
I started my own apparel company a few years ago and it has been the most difficult chapter of my life. But throughout this journey, I have felt compelled to give even at times where I didn’t really have the means to give. Along the way, God has blessed me and my family at just the right times in so many ways that this booklet couldn’t hold it all. Friends, look for opportunities to give. Give when it hurts. Give when you can’t and watch God bless you in your faith.
God, thank you for the abundance of blessings in my life. There are so many that I often overlook even the most simple blessings such as running water and a warm bed. Help me to give faithfully. Help me to trust in You to provide all that I need. In Jesus name, Amen

DIOS PROVEERÁ
En los primeros versículos de Lucas 21, Jesús comenta sobre una viuda que dio dos blancas al arca. Afirma que los ricos dieron de lo que les sobraba, pero la viuda dio todo lo que tenía. Durante la mayor parte de mi vida, interpreté esta historia como una referencia a cómo debemos dar voluntariamente, incluso si eso significa más de lo que queremos. Si bien esa interpretación puede ser cierta, más recientemente he visto esta historia desde un ángulo completamente diferente. La viuda NO esperó a tener tres blancas para dar dos. En otras palabras, ella no buscó seguridad en sus propios bienes antes de decidirse a dar. Lo dio todo sabiendo que su seguridad estaba en Dios.
Empecé mi propia empresa de ropa hace unos años y ha sido el capítulo más difícil de mi vida. Pero a lo largo de este viaje, me he sentido obligado a dar incluso en momentos en los que realmente no tenía los medios para hacerlo. A lo largo del camino, Dios nos ha bendecido a mí y a mi familia en los momentos oportunos de tantas maneras que este folleto no podría abarcarlo todo. Amigos, busquen oportunidades para dar. Dar cuando duele. Da cuando no puedas y mira cómo Dios te bendice en tu fe.
