Great Oaks is celebrating its 30-year Homecoming this summer!
The Great Oaks congregation began meeting in the summer of 1992 in Hill’s Barn (a rental space now called Hillwood Manor at Davies Plantation, about a mile and a half from our current building). So summer of 2022 marks our 30-year anniversary! (For more about Great Oaks’ history, click here.)
Homecoming weekend is August 13-14, 2022, and we hope you can join us! Here is the schedule for Homecoming weekend:
Saturday, August 13, we will have a cookout here at the building, from 12 noon until 3:30pm. We plan to eat around 1:00pm. Barbecue will be provided, and we ask everyone to bring sides and desserts. We will have bounce houses for the kids and cornhole for anyone who wants to play (please bring your boards and bean bags!), among other things.
Sunday, August 14, is our Homecoming Sunday! We will have Bible classes, worship, and a potluck lunch together. Here’s the schedule for the day:
- 9:00 am – Bible Classes for All Ages
- 10:00 am – Sunday morning worship, with a lesson from the Bible entitled “Blessed and Blessing”
- 11:30 am – Potluck Lunch in the Gym
- 12:30 pm – Sunday afternoon worship, with a lesson from the Bible entitled “But God: A Story Worth Telling”
It should be a great weekend together – we hope you can join us as we celebrate 30 years of God working in our church family!
