It’s one of the best things we do all year! And in all the difficulties of 2020, this year’s 40 Days of Prayer gives us a theme worth reflecting on: Where Have You Seen Jesus This Year?
To our members: can you write an article for our 2020 prayer booklet? Click here for the instructions and example.
Our “40 Days of Prayer” has 3 pieces to it:
1. Our 40 Days of Prayer, October 18th-November 26th. We challenge ourselves to grow in our prayer lives over 40 days. To help focus our thoughts, we are asking our members to write short devotional articles around the theme “Where Have You Seen Jesus This Year?” Each morning, we will post the daily article on our church blog and social media accounts, and we hope everyone will read the devotional thought and have a time of personal, private prayer. This year’s 40 days will end appropriately on Thanksgiving Day, November 26.
2. Our 24 Hour Prayer Vigil, November 13-14. We will take prayer requests from both members and friends as we get closer to the November Prayer Weekend, and our members will sign up for 1-hour Prayer Times to pray through the prayer requests. There will be someone (or multiple someones) praying through the prayer requests for 24 straight hours. We will have prayer request cards in the lobby, but you may also submit prayer requests here: https://www.greatoaks.org/prayer/
3. Our Praying for Memphis Sunday, November 15. Each year we have a Praying for Memphis Sunday. Our morning worship will be focused on asking God’s blessing on our community, and asking that He help us shine His light in the Memphis area.
We hope you can join us for what we know will be a great 40 days of drawing closer to God!
