Derek Williams began serving as our Associate Minister in June 2022. His role involves various ministry activities, including teaching Bible classes, occasional preaching, and focusing on relationships and ministry among our 50’s and up.
Derek grew up attending the Thyatira Church of Christ, which is the oldest congregation of the Lord’s church in Mississippi. It was established in 1836. Derek is married to Cherry and they have two daughters. Lesley lives in Nashville and Laura and her husband Hunter Heffington live in Gallatin.
Derek has a B.A in Bible and M.A. in ministry from Freed-Hardeman University as well as M.A. in teaching from the University of Memphis. His first full time ministry position was working with the Cox Boulevard Church from 1991 to 1995 in Sheffield, AL. In 1995, Derek began serving as the pulpit minister for the Mt. Carmel Church of Christ in Athens, AL. In January of 1999, he began working with the Bartlett Woods Church of Christ in Arlington, TN until 2021. He enjoys hunting, fishing and Ole Miss athletics.
