When examining Scripture we learn that Jesus challenged his followers to rise above their example. Jesus wanted his followers to have a different righteousness, to give, pray, and fast with pure motives, and to have a different view of the lost. Let’s learn from the Pharisees and not fall into the same trap of having a self-seeking and self-righteous attitude.

Jesus challenges His followers to not worry about material things. If God provides for the birds of the air and lilies of the field we can rest assured that He will provide for of us. Being anxious about material things does not help us in any way. Instead of allowing our minds to worry we are to focus minds on the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
